Full mission name: ECLIF3 Emissions, contrails and climate impact from alternative fuels

Description:

During ECLIF3, emissions and contrails forming on alternative fuels were measured in the near and the far field by the DLR Falcon. The Airbus A350 source aircraft and the DLR Falcon chase aircraft were operated from Toulouse and Oberpfaffenhofen under regulations related to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Falcon chased the A350 with Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines above the Mediteranean Sea to probe emissions and contrails from 100% HEFA biofuels. ECLIF3 is a joint project with the partners DLR, AIRBUS, Rolls Royce, Neste, Manchester University and NRC Canada.
