Data source: instrument CCP-CDP

Name Cloud Combination Probe (Cloud Droplet Probe)
Acronym CCP-CDP
Description The DMT instruments included in the CCP are the Cloud Imaging Probe grayscale (CIPg) and the Cloud Droplet Probe (CDP). Measured Particle Size Range: CDP: 2 µm to 50 µm; CIPg: 7.5 – 930 µm. How it Works: The CDP, which measures smaller particles, relies on light-scattering rather than imaging techniques. Particles scatter light from an incident laser, and collecting optics guide the light scattered in the 4° to 12° range into a forward-sizing photodetector. This light is measured and used to infer particle size. Source: (15.12.2014)
